Many meetings
For my first piece, I picked Many Meetings. Many Meetings was played in Lord of the Rings, when Frodo woke up in Rivendell after the flood. The song, for me, represents all the different people you will meet during your lifetime and their importance and influence in your life. The song flows and shifts from one melody to another.
On Sunday, I played to see how good I could play. I did good, but I knew that after one week that I could be way better.
I knew that I had to work on the slurs throughout the piece, so that is what I did on Monday.
Then on Tuesday, I worked on the the many dynamic changes in the piece. I worked on the mp to mf to mp to p to mf as well as the cres. and ascends and descents.
On Wednesday, I worked on the rhythm and notes and accidentals. I worked to get the poco rit. e dim. just right. I worked on the ever-changing rhythm with the sixteenth-notes and rests right. I also worked on the accidentals in the beginning.
Thursday, I reviewed the piece, adjusted the tempo slightly, and made sure I could reach the high notes.
Then on Friday, I recorded to see how well I could play after the week. I'll have the video up soon.
